Each potential client is welcome to a FREE 15-minute consultation to discuss your personal experience and/or my personal approach to counseling, If you do not see your concern listed above, please don't hesitate to call for the consultation to discuss your experience further. I pride myself on being adaptable and enjoy new challenges. Most importantly, you deserve a therapist you feel connection with. So let's connect! NOTE: If you are experiencing an emergency or active suicide ideation, please call 911. I do not answer messages week nights after 6pm or on the weekends. I will respond as soon as possible to your message, likely by text or email, to set up a consultation time. Technology correspondence will always only be used for scheduling purposes to ensure your privacy, safety and HIPAA compliance. Thus, please keep your messages brief. Thank you!
FAQs & Important Things To Know:
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
I am centrally located in between College Park and downtown with a group called HDCounseling. Our physical address is: 1501 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando, Fl 32804. There is plenty of parking and our building is secure, staying locked unless let in remotely.
ARE YOU OPEN TO CONDUCTING SESSIONS VIA TELEHEALTH?
Yes! However, I do prefer most sessions to be in person, especially in the beginning, so that we can foster our therapeutic alliance. During sessions, I like to facilitate impromptu interventions, like use a whiteboard, act out feelings, practice confrontation, and so on, and there's something magical that happens when we can share space to do so. That said, I absolutely understand how busy you are and remain open to doing online sessions, especially if that is a platform that works better for you. If we agree to conduct telehealth sessions, please note that you must be located in the state of Florida during our session as this is the only state I am licensed to conduct psychotherapy in (though there are promising policies happening in our legislature to make telehealth more accessible between states).
WHAT RIGHTS DO I HAVE REGARDING THE NO SURPRISE ACT?
The No Surprise Act under section 27988B-2(d) of the Public Health Service Act (PHS Act) states that consumers are protected from unexpected medical bills related to out-of-network service providers. You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
-
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
-
You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
-
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
-
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS OF USING INSURANCE TO PAY FOR PSYCHOTHERAPY CARE?:
Insurance is wonderful in that it creates access to therapy. However, using insurance can sometimes be challenging. Please identify your co-pay ahead of your appointment so that our time together can be spent on your wellness, not billing. Insurance companies have been known to change co-pays during treatment periods, which can lead to frustration and drop-out. Do not give up! You deserve the care you seek. Also, please be aware that insurance companies may request records at any moment for billing purposes, often need documentation/diagnosis that may become part of your permanent medical record, and ultimately have authority over your continuity of care.
WHAT ARE PROS AND CONS TO SELF-PAY FOR PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES?
Paying out of pocket for therapy may initially cause hesitation due to expense. What self-pay does give you is the autonomy to make decisions regarding your care by allowing you to decide your frequency of visits over a time period of your discretion. It also provides assurance of complete privacy. Most importantly, know you are worth investing in yourself.
